Wellness & Sound Practice

Immersive sound experiences supporting deep listening, reflection, movement, and a renewed connection between rhythm, body, and attention.

My wellness work developed organically from my work as a musician and theater artist. Through my theater work, I was invited to create sound design for staged readings presented by psychotherapists at conferences in the United States and abroad.

These collaborations introduced me to new ways of thinking about the functional possibilities of sound. Music could do more than support a theatrical narrative; it could help focus attention, deepen guided imagery, create an atmosphere for reflection, and help participants become more present within an experience.

Through this work, I met preventive-medicine physician Dr. Siddharth Ashvin Shah. I subsequently created the music and sound design for Getting to Work: Resiliency in Demanding Situations, his recording of guided meditations for people working in demanding environments.

My experiences with staged readings, psychotherapy conferences, and guided meditations eventually led to the development of the standalone sound-sanctuary programs I now call BioRhythms.

Earlier in my career, I was focused primarily on the aesthetic qualities of my work. Artistic integrity remains the foundation of everything I do, but these experiences led me to explore the functional possibilities of music as well—how sound, rhythm, resonance, silence, and deep listening can support presence, reflection, connection, and restoration.

Although many sound-based wellness practices emphasize sustained tones, I also explore the restorative possibilities of rhythm. Rhythm is present in the heartbeat, breath, walking, speech, movement, and the cycles of daily life. It can generate energy, but it can also organize attention, create a sense of grounding, and lead toward stillness.

Each experience is improvised and shaped in response to the participants, the room, and the energy of the gathering. The music may move between gentle pulse, melodic handpan, resonance, texture, electronics, acoustic percussion, and silence. Participants are not told what they should feel. The intention is to create an environment for deep listening in which each person can have an individual experience.

BioRhythms is primarily receptive, although some versions may include a brief, optional group element involving simple rhythm, breath, or movement. The work can also be presented in collaboration with psychotherapists, yoga teachers, meditation practitioners, movement artists, and other facilitators.

I do not present the music as medical or psychological treatment. Instead, I create an artistic sound environment that can complement the work of qualified wellness and mental-health professionals.

BioRhythms is an important part of my evolving identity as The Rhythmist. My goal is not to separate artistic music from functional sound, but to explore how the two can strengthen one another. Musical integrity gives the experience depth and authenticity, while an awareness of sound’s effect on the listener gives the music another dimension of purpose.

Supporting Materials

I can supply:

  • Photographs from selected BioRhythms and yoga-studio programs

  • A strong handpan or related sound-sanctuary performance excerpt

  • Testimonials from psychotherapists, yoga professionals, presenters, and other professionals familiar with this work

  • Information about selected collaborations with psychotherapists, yoga teachers, and movement practitioners

  • Photographs showing the instruments and overall sound-sanctuary environment

  • Information about Getting to Work: Resiliency in Demanding Situations and my collaboration with Dr. Siddharth Ashvin Shah and Greenleaf Integrative

Because of the private and personal nature of these programs, I do not currently have video from an actual BioRhythms session. One future possibility is to create a professionally recorded BioRhythms experience that could function both as a virtual presentation and as an introduction to the in-person program. I may also be able to gather appropriate footage from a future public session, with clear permission from the venue and participants.

Therapeutic Rhythm & Resonance for Healing, Connection, and Well-Being

Tom Teasley brings his extraordinary talents as a world percussionist into the realm of healing and community-building through sound. His therapeutic sound sessions, immersive BioRhythms journeys, and interactive drumming circles are designed to uplift, inspire, and foster connection across a wide range of communities. From sound meditations featuring binaural beats and ancient instruments to dynamic drum circles for team building and social engagement, Tom’s programs offer participants an opportunity to explore rhythm as a tool for emotional, physical, and spiritual well-being.

As a sound practitioner, Tom has collaborated with integrative health professionals, including contributing music and sound design for Getting to Work: Resiliency in Demanding Situations, a guided meditation project by physician Siddharth Ashvin Shah. He is actively involved with the Greenleaf Integrative team, offering sound healing to address the effects of traumatic stress in society. His performances often accompany yoga sessions, moving meditations, and guided group reflections, creating immersive soundscapes that encourage inner calm and connection.

Tom’s signature BioRhythms experience integrates live global percussion, rhythmic entrainment, and meditative textures in an interactive setting that invites participants to rest deeply, join in rhythm, and explore the transformative power of sound. Whether shared with wellness practitioners, psychotherapists, or diverse public audiences, BioRhythmsunderscores Tom’s commitment to making music a catalyst for personal and collective renewal.

Tom’s global experience as a cultural envoy has also led him to bring therapeutic music to refugees, individuals with disabilities, and bedridden patients across the Middle East, Asia, and beyond. His work has been praised for its depth and impact. The late Dr. John Dluhy describes his music as “an ancient and valid use of music as a healing art,” while Amanda Poppei of the Washington Ethical Society recalls a collaborative Solstice Soundscape as “an emotional and spiritual experience” that brought diverse communities together.

Through live performance, rhythm facilitation, sound meditation, and programs like BioRhythms, Tom continues to expand the boundaries of music as a powerful force for healing, empathy, and human connection.

Yoga Meets Percussion Events

Tom Teasley and Steve Wolf have created a compelling fusion of live music and yoga that draws participants into a deeply immersive, multisensory journey of healing and inner alignment. Their collaborations — spanning formats from Chair Yoga to Yoga Nidra — seamlessly blend Steve’s decades of experience in mind-body practices with Tom’s expressive, global percussion. The result is a richly layered experience that harmonizes breath, movement, and rhythm, offering not only physical restoration, but emotional release and spiritual grounding.

Their work has been featured at high-profile events such as the Castleton Festival and is also available online via Insight Timer, providing an accessible window into the uniquely calming and transformative synergy of guided yoga and live sound.

The duo’s Yoga Percussion experiences have also been presented at Radiance Yoga in Alexandria, Virginia, where they’ve led popular New Year’s Day sessions designed to reset the nervous system and cultivate intention for the year ahead. In these events, Steve guides participants through restorative poses while Tom performs a live, improvised soundscape using an array of hand percussion instruments, flutes, and subtle electronics. The resulting atmosphere is both grounding and transcendent — a rare balance that invites deep stillness while awakening sensory awareness.

What sets Teasley and Wolf apart is their intuitive collaboration: each moment is co-created in real time, with music and movement responding to one another in fluid conversation. This improvisational quality infuses their sessions with a sense of presence and authenticity that is difficult to replicate. Whether in a studio setting or through a digital stream, their events offer a powerful reminder that healing isn’t just a solo pursuit — it can also be a shared, sonic ritual.
